Graduation Trip Taking Shape
My middle son graduates high school this year. I want to celebrate and commemorate that milestone. We have been chewing on the idea of going to the Grand Canyon - neither of us has been there - and completing a rim to rim hike. If you aren’t familiar - I wasn’t until I started researching - a rim to rim hike is just what it says. You start on one side of the canyon, hike down and back up the other side. It sounds amazing!
It also sounds intimidating. I don’t want my son to feel pressured to do it. It’s his senior summer - I know he will have other plans. So I presented it this way, “Hey, this looks cool, I’m going to do this, do you want to go to?” and “Are you sure? I’m going for sure so don’t feel like you have to go or I won’t.”
He said he’s game so I pulled the trigger and booked our lodging. There’s still a lot that needs planned. We will need some hiking gear. We will need to train. I’m excited for the journey. I hope some day he looks back on the experience and says “That was an amazing trip with my mom.”
I’ll update our progress so check back!
